Slab Built

The process of slab building was the easiest from me to pick up. It feels more natural and the parts fit together as you would expect. "Scratch & Attach" are the words to live by when building with slabs of clay. Every joint needs to be properly attached in order for your piece to survive drying, bisque firing and then glaze firing. Clay can have memory so you need to be mindful how you handle the slabs to ensure that the results you are looking for, have the highest probability of success. I think what I enjoy most about slab building, is the thought up front that it takes to picture how something will come together in the end, All the joints, bends, and manipulations required to achieve your goals. It's always a challenge to figure out the right way to build something esthetically pleasing and useful.
